A trip to Worbarrow Bay is a fantastic day as you can combine a beautiful swim with a visit to the deserted village of Tyneham.
First 10km marathon swim of the season today! I completed the Shore Rd – Bournemouth Pier – Sandbanks – Shore Rd swim in around 3 hours 30 mins. The pace was a little slower than I’d hoped for although conditions weren’t ideal as the first half of the swim was against the wind.
What a great weekend we’ve just had! Two weeks ago it was winter and now it’s summer! Sea temperatures are rising and with the recent improvement in air temperatures it means that long distance training is now firmly under way with a 2 hour 9 mins swim last Saturday.
Ellingham Lake has opened up again for open water swimming so it must officially be the start of the summer open water training season! The water temperature was quoted as 11º so it’s still quite fresh but warmer than the sea and warm enough to get in some meaningful distance.
Kimmeridge Bay is beautiful, and a perfect place to swim – a great place for just dipping or exploring or for a more serious training session. So when a “Beyond The Blue” Facebook event popped up on my news feed I needed very little encouragement.
